Chapter 4: When It Comes Down To Nothing

Lisa

When it comes down to nothing, I know I can depend on my girls forever. We were all driving up to visit Tina. If she needed help catching Broadie cheating, we would be the ones to do it, but I had to figure out a way to be sensitive about it. I mean, we were all going through our own things.

We didn’t know it, but Racheal and Robert couldn’t have kids, and after Racheal’s doctor’s appointment a few days ago, things continued to go way left. We all just thought they weren’t trying or didn’t have time since Robert played professionally. I think the anticipation of finding out the problem is what is truly messing with her.

Brenda and Cam are separated for now; that was going to be a separate road trip. Who did he think he was…leaving her with four kids to raise all alone? He was gonna find out the hard way what child support and alimony felt like.

I’m sure Mitchell is lying to me about the robbery. What could he have gotten himself into? He had become the District Attorney, so maybe he had some enemies that he didn’t know about. But even so, why wouldn’t he tell me the truth? I’m his wife; I’ve been by his side. Ok, Lisa, one issue at a time. Let’s focus on Tina.

“Somebody call Tina and see where she is, but don’t be sounding all obvious. Just check up on her.” I said.

“Ok, I’ll call, she won’t think nothing about me calling because I rarely do,” Racheal said.

“Ok Racheal, call her. Like now before we overshoot her house by accident.” We were already in a different state, and I’m always the one to drive. I didn’t need to be going any further than we needed to go.

Racheal called Tina, and luckily we called when we did; she said she was getting dressed to step out of the house. I punched it the next ten miles to her house. I had never been to New York; and after this trip, I was never coming back. The traffic was worse than in Georgia. I still hadn’t got used to having to drive 100 mph just to keep up with the flow of traffic.

When we pulled up to the house, I laid on the horn so Tina would come out all frazzled not knowing who was being loud in her driveway. I had the same car she last saw me in, so I knew she would know it was me right away. The door flew open, and she had on a little robe with her shower cap on, and we all jumped out of the car.

“Surprise!” The three of us yelled.

“What up bitch?”

“You gon let us in or nah?”

Tina ran out to the car and we all huddled in a big family hug. Things were right at last. “Y’all come inside; we have so much to talk about.”

Tina invited us in and gave us a tour. The first thing she showed us was her studio, she was so proud of it.
